Detroit Police interrogator Ira Todd shot a man dead in 1993 during a drug bust gone bad. Todd thought the man had a gun. He did not. Todd was tried for 2nd degree murder, and was acquitted by a jury.
Still, Todd says, the death haunts him: “When you take another human being’s life, you lose part of yours.”
